The old adage to not judge a book by its cover couldn’t be more applicable when it comes to different ways to play the popular game of poker. Live poker and online poker appear, on the cover, to be the same: same deck of 52 cards, same rules, same result when you win a hand (more chips) and, sadly, same result when you lose a hand (less chips). You can bet, check, raise, tilt, rail, sweat, fade, chat, bluff, run good or run bad at a live room and at an online room alike. Yet despite all of those commonalities, the two experiences are actually much different. I just finished reading the “Psychology of Poker,” by Alan Schoonmaker. As an avid online and offline poker player and poker blogger, I read as many books as I can on the topic of poker. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest books ever written. This book really focuses on the psychology of the game and why players play like they do and why you play like you do. This book does not cover or basic skills.
